Description of Artwork: For over 30 years, I have been exploring the origins of thinking and consciousness in the artist's studio. I have converted my studio into a neurobiology research laboratory. Over these decades, I have had two simultaneous professional careers: art and neurology/neurobiology. Ten years ago, I ended my neurologic activities and am, once again, engaged in art full-time.
The current media used to explore these neurobiologic questions include paintings on canvas, prints on paper, LED color-changing light sculptures, and kinetic pieces. I have displayed examples of these works during the previous SfN meeting in Chicago.

Description of Artwork: Kelly earned her MSc in cognitive neurophysiology from McGill University in conjunction with Western University in Canada. She currently runs a studio -- Kelly Bullock Art -- inspired to address the gap between technical experts and the various audiences they serve. One of the biggest challenges facing health professionals, scientists, and journalists is conveying complex topics in a way that is easily understood. Kelly Bullock Art creates engaging visuals to help these professionals communicate their research and work to a diverse audience.

Description of Artwork: Lauren creates hand embroidered pieces exhibiting tactile art centered around data neuroscientists use every day. Her current collection features 100 different types of neurons from the smallest organisms to the largest mammals. She hopes to convey the beauty in biology with her art and truly celebrates the wonderful diversity of brain cells.

Description of Artwork: To me, art and science are not different, but the same subject appreciated differently. An artist’s brain observes the world and creates a unique beauty. A scientist’s brain observes the same world and investigates it through experiments. In my art and science, I aim to reach a meaningful unison of our artistic and scientific Universe. I believe, our highest capacity for understanding this Universe lies deep within our brain, in every turn of our neurons.

Description of Artwork: Dr. Sluka creates artwork focusing on cells of the human body with an emphasis on the nervous system. Her artwork is designed to show the beauty of the cells within the body in both normal and disease states, and the communication networks between cells particularly the nervous system. As long-standing neurobiology researcher and professor, the ideas for her art stem directly from her own and her colleagues research.

Description of Artwork: Michele Banks, aka Artologica, creates original watercolor and ink paintings inspired by the brain, as well as silk scarves based on her paintings. Her artwork celebrates the beauty of neuroanatomy, while exploring the ideas that make neuroscience so compelling: perception, cognition and emotion. Her paintings have been shown at the AAAS, NIH and the FENS meeting in Berlin, and have been featured on the covers of scientific journals and textbooks.

Description of Artwork: Anatomology is a company created by a professor of Neuroscience. Anatomology creates a variety of products that celebrate psychology and neuroscience such as, original artwork tote bags, molecular jewelry and key chains, original art scarves and socks, magnets and cards. Some of our more unique items include, Ramon Santiago y Cajal ties, Phineas Gage Key chains and Peter Witt's famous spiders on drugs images combined into art.

Description of Artwork: Greg Dunn received his doctorate in neuroscience in 2011, and has since devoted his career to exploring the intersection of art and neuroscience. Inspired by the microscopic vistas of the nervous system, Greg paints neuroscience themes in the style of Asian art while simultaneously exploring new artistic techniques adapted from the lab. His exhibit will feature original paintings and prints for viewing and sale.
