SfN Holds 18th Annual Capitol Hill Day
SfN successfully completed their 18th annual Capitol Hill Day on March 12–14. Capitol Hill Day was a multiday, virtual event with 46 advocates in attendance holding 53 meetings with congressional offices across 29 states. These participants advocated for robust funding for the NIH, NSF, and the VA Medical and Prosthetic Research Program as well as support for the continued ethical use of animals in research and the harmful effects of long-term continuing resolutions. Thank you to everyone who participated in Hill Day and used their voice to advocate for neuroscience priorities!

SfN Releases Statement on the Use of NHPs in Research
SfN recently issued a statement highlighting and underscoring the importance of non-human primate (NHP) models in neuroscience research and the current rules and regulations researchers must abide by to conduct research with animal models. SfN is committed to remaining a leader in the research community in promoting and protecting the continued use of animal models in neuroscience.
Legislators Recognize Brain Awareness Week 2024
During Brain Awareness Week (BAW) 2024 Washington, D.C. Mayor Murial Bowser and Maryland Governor Wes Moore officially declared BAW in their jurisdictions. Additionally, RepresentativeMorgan Luttrell (R-TX-08), co-chair of the Congressional Neuroscience Caucus, formally recognized BAW in the House of Representatives. Congressman Luttrell gave a one-minute statement on the floor noting the importance of continued advocacy for brain research and the contributions of all the work scientists are doing to study the brain. SfN thanks Representative Lutrell, Mayor Bowser and Governor Moore for highlighting the important work present and future work of neuroscience researchers.
