Where is SfN's annual meeting and what is the address?

The meeting will be held at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, 801 Mt Vernon Pl NW, Washington, DC 20001.  

What is the mask requirement for the meeting?

While SfN does not have a mask mandate, the use of masks may be necessary for individuals based on their individual situation. SfN recommends the use of masks as appropriate for each attendee.

What is the vaccination requirement for the meeting?

SfN strongly encourages individuals be vaccinated for COVID-19 in accordance with current CDC and national health authority recommendations.

Do I have to be a member to attend?

No, but the registration fees are reduced for members. Join or renew your membership.

When can I submit a proposal for a session or event? 

Proposals for symposium, minisymposium, Dual Perspectives, Storytelling, Basic-Translational-Clinical Roundtables, SfN-Sponsored Socials, and Professional Development Workshops are accepted during a submission period that opens in December each year and closes in January. Information on submitting a proposal for next year will be available in December.

When can I submit an abstract?

Abstracts are accepted for a two-week submission period in June. Late-breaking abstracts are not accepted.

I'm a student attendee, is there anything special I should know?

Yes. There are registration benefits unique to students and services provided at the annual meeting that prove especially valuable to students:

Meeting Registration:

  Undergraduate and graduate students pay reduced membership dues: Join SfN.

• Register for the Meeting
  Students (members and nonmembers) pay lower registration fees. 

• Qualify for Reduced Fees/Registration
  SfN provides students from qualifying developing countries with reduced membership and registration fees.

• Reserve a room in the student housing block.

I'm an international attendee, is there anything special I should know?

Yes. International attendees should take special care to plan their travel arrangements, especially if they need to obtain a visa, and prepare for their stay in the United States. International attendees could also qualify for reduced registration fees.

When can I pick up a Certificate of Attendance?

Certificates of attendance are proof to home institutions that attendees were present at the meeting. Certificates are signed and sealed by SfN staff. This document is often required for reimbursement of meeting expenses - attendees must pick up the certificate in person at the meeting. There are no exceptions. Every attendee is advised to obtain a certificate, available at a designated booth in the convention center's Attendee Services area.
