William B Levy
William B Levy, 77, Distinguished Professor, Department of Neurosurgery, University of Virginia School of Medicine, passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends on March 29, 2024.
Dr. Levy's interests and contributions over 45 years were very broad. His early seminal experimental work established associativity of long-term potentiation and depression (LTP and LTD). Later, more theoretical work included sequence generation by the hippocampus, computational models of synaptic modification and synaptogenesis, and the application of energy minimization principles to understanding neural function.
He was honored with the Hebb award from the International Neural Network Society in 2007.
