Get Involved: Participate in the Future of SfN
Become more active in the Society by nominating yourself or a colleague to SfN leadership. By contributing to the Society’s mission and goals, you can impact the future of the organization and the neuroscience field. Nominations for officers, councilors, and committee members are now open. Your input helps to shape the future and sustain the vitality of SfN’s leadership and their ability to represent the growing and diverse membership.
Members are the core of the Society, and your nominations ensure that Council and committees provide strategic vision, guidance, and represent the neuroscience community at large. As SfN continues to grow, you are urged to consider nominating members who represent all aspects of diversity, including geographic, racial, ethnic, scientific, and gender.
Serving on committees gives SfN members the opportunity to be more engaged in the Society and in the field in a different way. Several committees have roles that allow leadership to an extremely vocal part of shaping the future of the organization and even the profession. There are committees to fit many interests and specialties – expand your professional scope and clout through the Committee on Animals in Research, on Membership and Chapters, on Neuroscience Departments and Programs, and more.
All SfN members are welcome to nominate themselves or colleagues who are current Regular members, including emeritus status for officer and councilor positions. The Committee on Committees (CoC) matches interested and qualified members with the committee most appropriate for their talents.
Officer and Councilor Nominations
Positions that are up for election this year include president-elect, treasurer-elect, secretary-elect, and two councilors. Nominations can be submitted on the Call for Officer and Councilor Nominations page. Regular members, including those with emeritus status, are eligible for these positions.
