Rep. Chabot Meets With Neuroscientists During August Recess
During the 2015 congressional recess, 2015 Early Career Policy Fellow Ryan Makinson and Kim Seroogy meet with Rep. Steve Chabot (R-OH) at his district office in Cincinnati. During the meeting, they discussed recent advances in the field of neuroscience for the treatment of common neurological and psychological disorders. Also discussed were concerns over the future of scientific progress, as related to NIH and NSF funding. Makinson and Seroogy also thanked Chabot for his recent support of the 21st Century Cures Act, which provides additional logistical and funding support devoted to the discovery of cures for common health problems.
At the end of the meeting, Makinson invited Chabot to visit his laboratory to learn more about their research, which investigates mechanisms that contribute to depression and PTSD. This invitation was well received, and Makinson is in the process of scheduling this visit with Chabot’s office staff.
