Neuroscience 2015 Attendees Share Science from Around the Globe
More than 29,000 neuroscience researchers, clinicians, and advocates traveled to Chicago in mid-October to take part in Neuroscience 2015, the world’s largest meeting focused on scientific discovery related to the brain and nervous system.
More than 15,000 scientific presentations showcased innovative advances in techniques and valuable new research about brain structure, health, disease, and treatments. In addition to the posters and scientific lectures, the meeting featured 20 professional development workshops, networking functions, and 517 exhibitors displaying the latest scientific products.
As the largest source of emerging news about brain science and health, the meeting featured 10 news conferences with 41 neuroscientists presenting findings on a wide variety of topics including new technologies, the science behind addiction, potential treatments for spinal cord injuries, and advances in stem cell research. Each year the annual meeting brings the field a swell of public attention through publications, websites, and radio and television broadcasts around the world, including Korea, China, India, the United Kingdom, Sweden, and all points across the United States.

The Dialogues Between Neuroscience and Society lecture featuring Jed S. Rakoff, JD. He discussed the legal and ethical questions raised as neuroscience enters the courtroom and affects the judicial system.

Special Presentation on “Embracing an Era of Unprecedented Advances in Neuroscience” featuring Francis Collins of the National Institutes of Health discussing how his agency, working with the neuroscience community, is catalyzing development of technologies to provide dynamic pictures of the brain, both in disease and in health.
