Neuroscientists Take to the Hill in Support of Research
On Thursday, March 17, over 60 neuroscientists will take their message to Congress, supporting increased funding for the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the National Science Foundation (NSF). SfN’s 10th Capitol Hill Day is taking place during a crucial moment as Congress begins considering the FY2017 budget. While there is widespread support for biomedical research, broader pressures on the federal budget could threaten to derail efforts to increase funding.
Against this backdrop, SfN members from across the United States will meet with their congressional representatives to discuss advances in the field of neuroscience, share the economic and public health benefits of investment in biomedical research, and make the case for strong national investment in scientific research through NIH and NSF. Join the conversation on Twitter at #sfnhillday and support your fellow scientists by sending a message about the importance of NIH research to your legislators.
