SfN's statement condemning violence against Asian American and Pacific Islander communities
The recent shootings that left eight people dead in Atlanta – attacks that appeared to target the Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) community specifically – are appalling. Regardless of the motivation of these crimes, the growing discrimination and recorded hate crimes toward AAPI since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic builds on a disturbing and longstanding history of racism. The Society for Neuroscience condemns violence and xenophobia in all its manifestations.
